Council Minutes – Sept. 8, 2020
The Town Council of the Town of Steele, Alabama, met in Regular Session at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2020 at Steele Town Community Center. Upon roll call the following members were present.
Present: Roger Adams, Mayor
Richard Reynolds, Councilmember Michael Stevens, Councilmember Philip Gleason, Jr., Councilmember Rick Barnes, Council Member Nancy Miller-Borg, Councilmember
Absent: None
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Roger Adams. Councilmember Barnes led everyone in a word of prayer.
The minutes from the August 17, 2020 meeting were approved by a motion from Councilmember Miller-Borg, seconded by Councilmember Reynolds, and approved by the Council.
Ayes: Gleason Jr., Stevens, Miller-Borg, Barnes and Reynolds. Nays: None
The minutes from the meeting on Sept. 1, 2020 concerning election canvasing results were approved by a motion from Councilmember Barnes, seconded by Councilmember Stevens and approved by the Council
Ayes: Gleason Jr., Stevens, Miller-Borg, and Barnes Abstain: Reynolds
Mayor Adams read a request from the St. Clair County Young Republicans for a roadblock on Sept. 19, 2020 , 10:00 AM- 2:00 PM at Highway 11 and Steele Station Road. Motion was made by Councilmember Reynolds to approve the request. Seconded by Councilmember Barnes and approved by the Council.
Ayes: Gleason Jr., Stevens, Miller-Borg, Barnes and Reynolds. Nays: None
Ordnance# 2020-003 concerning the approval for Sunday, afternoon, alcohol sales in the Town of Steele was read. Councilmember Miller-Borg made a motion to suspend the rules in order to vote immediately. The motion was seconded by Councilmember Barnes and passed unanimously by the Council.
Ayes: Gleason Jr., Stevens, Miller-Borg, Barnes and Reynolds. Nays: None
