Councilmember Gleason Jr., mentioned that the 4th of July will be here before we know it and stated that if anyone has any suggestions or ideas for the July 4th event to let him know.  He stated that February / March is when he usually starts setting everything up and is welcome to any new or fresh ideas.  July 4th is on a Monday this year so the Council needs to decide if we will have the event on Saturday or Sunday.

Councilmember Deweese stated that she wanted to thank all the Councilmembers that came to help out with the Santa Claus / Christmas event, and also the ladies from Smith’s Tomato Farm, who helped out with the cookies and hot chocolate.  She stated that she was approached by an individual who proposed establishing a committee to plan events for special occasions (July 4th, Christmas, etc.).  The individual suggested having a couple of road blocks to raise money for these events.  Councilmember Barnes stated that he is in favor of the Town financially supporting the events.  After discussion, it was agreed that this was a good idea, and would contribute to increased community involvement.

Councilmember Barnes also had road speeding sign information.  He stated that the max speed is continuing to climb.  He stated that he can get very detailed information from the signs.  The month of December there were 45,776 cars that came through town. Councilmember Gleason Jr. stated that these numbers could possibly help to bring a fast-food type business into town.

Mayor Pro Tempe Miller-Borg stated that the next Mayor’s breakfast is Tuesday January 18 at 7:30 AM in Riverside.

With there being no further business to come before this regular Council Meeting of January 3, 2022, Councilmember Barnes made a motion to adjourn the meeting.   Adjourned at 6:57 PM.

Due to Monday, January 17th being a holiday, the next Council Meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 18th at 6:30 PM
