Council Minutes

The Town Council of the Town of Steele, Alabama, met in Regular Session at Town Hall at 6:30 pm on Monday, June 5, 2017. Upon roll call the following members were present:

 

Present:              Roger Adams, Mayor

                            Richard Reynolds, Councilmember

                            Brent Dunn, Councilmember

                            Philip Gleason Jr., Councilmember

                            Rick Barnes, Councilmember

                            Nancy Miller-Borg, Councilmember

                          

Absent:               None.

 

 

Mayor Adams asked Councilmember Reynolds to lead everyone in a word of prayer.

 

The Town Council having read the minutes from the Regular Council Meeting held on May 15, 2017, motion was made by Councilmember Miller-Borg to approve the minutes, 2^nd Councilmember Barnes & approved by the Town Council.

                                                    

                                                    Ayes:  Miller-Borg, Barnes, Reynolds, Dunn and Gleason Jr.      Nays:  None.

 

The Town Council having read the minutes from the Special Meeting held on May 31, 2017, motion was made by Councilmember Reynolds to approve the minutes, 2^nd Councilmember Barnes & approved by the Town Council, with Dunn abstaining.

 

                                                    Ayes:  Reynolds, Barnes, Gleason Jr. and Miller-Borg.

                                                    Nays:  None.

                                                    Abstaining:  Dunn.

 

Resolution 2017-004 authorizing the borrowing of $40,086.94 at a 4% fixed rate for 5 years from Peoples Independent Bank to purchase a 2017 Chevrolet Tahoe was adopted with a motion made by Councilmember Miller-Borg, 2^nd Councilmember Reynolds & approved by the Town Council.

 

                                                   Ayes:  Miller-Borg, Reynolds, Dunn, Gleason Jr. and Barnes.

                                                   Nays:  None.

 

Mayor Adams read the May Fire/Medic report.

 

Motion was made by Councilmember Barnes approving the reimbursement to Nancy Miller-Borg of $29.66 for the Mayor’s breakfast fruit she purchased, 2^nd Councilmember Reynolds & approved by the Council.

 

                                                    Ayes:  Barnes, Reynolds, Dunn, Gleason Jr and Miller-Borg.

                                                    Nays:  None.

 

Motion was made by Councilmember Gleason Jr. approving the Fire Department expense to Active911, Inc. for a yearly subscription for $235 for 20 users for paging devices, 2^nd Councilmember Dunn & approved by the Town Council.

 

                                                    Ayes:  Gleason Jr, Dunn, Reynolds, Barnes and Miller-Borg.                                                     Nays:  None.
